Siemens Tests Charger Locomotive

New Engine

The first SC-44 Charger diesel locomotive has started test running at up to 200 km/h at the Transportation Technology Center in Pueblo, Colorado. A similar Charger engine will power the Siemens-built trains for the Brightline inter-city service between Miami and Orlando.

Siemens posted raw footage of its train on YouTube safely reaching 125 miles per hour during testing out in Pueblo Colorado with MARC bilevel cars.

The first Brightline trains are expected to start running in southern Florida early next year.
